This study explores the socioeconomic implications of youth unemployment as a result of poor implementation of agricultural policies in Nigeria, Anambra State as a case study. The research utilizes a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative and qualitative data analysis. A thematic descriptive method was adopted to examine poor implementation of Agricultural policies on youth unemployment and its socioeconomic effects. Data sources included primary, secondary, and tertiary materials. Primary data were obtained through interviews and surveys, while secondary sources included historical records, books, and journal articles. Tertiary sources such as e-books and verified online resources complemented the dataset. The study sampled 1,200 respondents across six local government areas in Anambra State, utilizing oral interviews and structured questionnaires. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including tabular and modal presentations. Findings revealed that youths and other agricultural stakeholders are not consulted during policy formulation and implementation. There is a nexus between youth unemployment and armed robbery, cybercrime and kidnapping, hence, the socioeconomic consequences of joblessness. Structural challenges such as land tenure insecurity, poor government investment in agriculture etc. hinder youth’s engagement in the sector, language barriers and corruption also effect agricultural policy implementation in Nigeria. We recommend that government should involve youths and critical agricultural stakeholders in the making and implementation of agricultural policies. The structural challenges should be handled and the use of rural community language in educating rural farmers.
